Coral Restoration Internship

Turquoise Divers and Turquoise Bay Resort are pleased to announce their partnership with Bay Islands Reef Restoration (BIRR), a coral conservation program based out of Turquoise Divers. As a result of this collaboration, we are now able to offer coral restoration internships. Interns will have all of the benefits of being a Turquoise Divers intern (including housing, buffet lunch, unlimited diving, etc.), while learning about and getting involved in coral restoration. In 2016, we started the first two coral nurseries in all of Central America in an effort to start to restore those populations. Our nursery program is offshore, meaning that all of our hands-on restoration work is done in the ocean, diving, and not in a classroom/lab. Our coral fragments start out in one of our nurseries and are outplanted back onto the reef when they’ve reached the appropriate size. Our standard program is a 4 week internship, but we are flexible and can shorten or extend this depending on the time that you have available.
